Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham’s women’s sides have lost out to Brighton in the race to sign Hannah Poulter.

The South Coast side confirmed via their official website on 12 July that the 19-year-old English keeper completed the paperwork ahead of a transfer.

The Daily Mail reported on 11 July that despite interest from the Toffees and other Women’s Super League sides, Poulter decided to pen a long-term deal with the Seagulls.

Everton miss out on the services of Hannah Poulter

Poulter’s signing with Brighton highlights her potential as a promising young goalkeeper with youth international experience.

The Toffees could have benefited from her presence as her experience in the Under-19 England squad and her participation in the Under-17 European Championship indicate her ability to perform under pressure at a high level, which could have been a valuable asset to them.

Moreover, her development at the University of Southern California and her time in the Reading academy suggest that she is a dedicated player who has been honing her skills and is ready for professional challenges.

The Merseyside club could have provided her with the platform to continue her development and potentially become a long-term solution between the sticks.

Despite missing out on Poulter, they must continue their pursuit of a new goalkeeper in this window.

Their current goalkeeping situation may require reinforcement to ensure stability and competitiveness in the upcoming season.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have agreed a multi-million fee in principle to seal yet another transfer this summer.
