Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are likely to be busy in the coming weeks as they look to strengthen their respective squads.

The Gunners came close to winning the Premier League title last season and will be eager to bolster their ranks so they can finally win a trophy that has eluded them since 2004.

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou enjoyed a decent maiden season in charge of the Lilywhites, and they’ll be determined to seal a top-four spot next year.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with many top players in recent weeks, including a £25million-rated midfielder loved by Cesc Fabregas.

However, Fabrizio Romano now has some bad news for both north London clubs on that front.

Youssouf Fofana set to snub Arsenal and Tottenham for AC Milan

The player in question is Monaco ace Youssouf Fofana, who is statistically one of the best passers in Europe.

Just a few weeks ago, TuttoJuve reported that Tottenham were the leading candidates to sign the 25-year-old ahead of the likes of Arsenal this summer.

However, AC Milan have since overtaken all other rival suitors to put themselves in pole position for Fofana’s signature.

Romano reported on Wednesday that Fofana has agreed personal terms with the Rossoneri, and there are “zero issues” that could cause concerns on that front.

Despite interest from the Premier League, the player’s priority is Milan, added the transfer insider.

Arsenal and Tottenham set to miss out on ‘very dynamic and strong’ player

Over the 2023/24 campaign, Fofana played 35 times for Monaco where he was able to rack up four goals and four assists.

The Frenchman impressed to the extent that he received a call-up to the national side at Euro 2024.

Fofana is a player who former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas is familiar with, having played together at the principality club.

“He’s a very dynamic and strong player,” Fabregas said on BBC’s Planet Premier League podcast.

“Good on the ball, a modern type of player, aggressive, can jump, he’s box to box.

“I really like Fofana and I think he fits very well with the Premier League style.”

However, it sadly looks like Arsenal and Tottenham are set to miss out on him.
