BBC pundit sends stern Cantwell & Lawrence message as 'Massive' Rangers exit on the cards

Kenny Miller has urged Tom Lawrence and Todd Cantwell to step up as James Tavernier might be leaving Rangers this summer.

The English right-back and club captain has chipped in with goals and assists on a regular basis for the team.

Miller himself believes that Tavernier will be sold this summer if Gers receive a sizeable bid for his services. [Daily Record, 2 June].

Miller, a BBC pundit, told Clyde Superscoreboard: “They won’t be coming from a right-back. I think the strikers might be pretty happy, the fact they might get back on the penalties and get their numbers up. What it does mean is that winger, definitely your Todd Cantwell and Tom Lawrence types, your 10s and attacking 8s, they need to be chipping in with more.

“That’s a lot of goals to be losing. If Tavernier does leave Rangers, it’s not just the number of goals… it’s the big goals. Just look at this season, Old Firm goals, Cup final winning goals, he’s been a go-to guy in that Rangers team so it will be a massive hole if he leaves.”

Tom Lawrence and Todd Cantwell need to step up to the plate for Rangers

Lawrence and Cantwell must step up for Gers to fill the potential void left by Tavernier.

The Englishman’s goal contributions from the right-back position have been pivotal for Rangers and his possible departure would leave a significant gap in the team’s attacking output.

Lawrence and Cantwell, as creative midfielders, are well-positioned to take on this responsibility and increase their goal and assist tallies to compensate for Tavernier’s potential exit.

Moreover, Gers should consider signing a replacement for Tavernier.

His consistent displays, leadership and goal-scoring ability are not easily replaceable.

A new signing would not only provide cover in the right-back position but also bring fresh energy and skills to the team, potentially enhancing the team’s overall performance.

This dual approach of relying on existing players to step up and also seeking a new signing would help Gers maintain their competitive edge and continue to challenge for titles.

In other Rangers news, the club will now be paying an extra £1million to seal yet another summer transfer.
