Bryan Gil and his representatives have told Tottenham he wants to leave this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal X account on Friday (26 July), Romano reported that Gil, 23, has “his heart set” on joining La Liga side Girona with personal terms already agreed to make the move to Spain.

It is understood that the attacker’s camp has told Spurs that he wants to sign for them “at all costs”.

Romano adds that talks are ongoing between Tottenham and Girona, who finished third in La Liga last season and will play in the upcoming Champions League for the first time ever.

Bryan Gil time at Tottenham to come to an end

Gil’s time at Tottenham hasn’t been one to remember.

The 23-year-old joined the North London club from Sevilla in 2021 and since then, he’s played just 43 times in all competitions and failed to score a single goal.

He had the odd good performance but overall, he was someone who was sub-par and Spurs are better off cashing in on him.

Gil is still young so he could go back to Spain, do really well and make the Londoners regret their decision to sell him but he’s had three years on the books at Tottenham now and you’d have thought he would have got into the swing of things by now.

The attacker has had a couple of loan spells away at Valencia and Sevilla but he had the whole of the season at Spurs last time out and only managed to start two Premier League games.

Overall, it’ll be good business for Daniel Levy to cash in on Gil.

He might have to take a hit on the £21.6million paid to Sevilla in 2021 but it’s better than having a player on the books who simply isn’t earning his keep.

In other Tottenham news, Arsenal want to hijack the club’s move for a West Ham United gem.
