Club conduct auction as Everton make proposal for new transfer - reports

Hull City are sparking an auction for Jaden Philogene amid interest from Everton, Crystal Palace and Hull City, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist claimed on 6 July that the Championship side are looking to make decent money for the 22-year-old.

The Toffees have sent the attacker a proposal [Fabrizio Romano, 4 July] as they look to seal a summer transfer.

The Toffees’ financial situation makes it difficult for them to engage in a bidding war for Philogene.

The club have been operating under tight budget constraints and overspending could lead to further sanctions.

Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town, who are also interested in Philogene, may have more financial flexibility and a greater willingness to invest in the player.

Palace especially could see players leave for big money this summer and that could give them an advantage over Everton.

Ipswich will also have additional funds, having secured promotion and will be doing whatever they can to stay up, putting the Toffees at a disadvantage in a bidding war.

Given these factors, the Merseyside outfit should consider alternative targets or negotiate a reasonable fee for Philogene, rather than risking financial penalties or overspending on a single player.
