Confirmed: Philippe Clement reveals 'Positive news' ahead of Rangers v Ross County

Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes returned to full training for the first time ahead of the Rangers clash against Ross County on Sunday.

Philippe Clement confirmed that the two players who were out with injuries have taken a positive step towards returning to full fitness.

However, it does not seem likely they’ll be available for the clash at the Global Energy Stadium on 8 December.

Clement said, as quoted by the club’s official X account: “Rabbi Matondo and Oscar Cortes were in full training today for the first time so that is positive news.”

Rangers must ensure they do not suffer any re-injuries

Ensuring that Matondo and Cortes do not suffer setbacks in their recovery is crucial as both players have a history of injuries, which has significantly impacted their ability to contribute consistently to the team.

Their return to full training is a positive sign, but their past injury records suggest a need for cautious management to prevent further issues.

Along with that, their fitness is vital for team performance, especially in crucial matches and it’s good to see everyone coming to full fitness ahead of the festive period and January transfer window.

If either player re-injures themselves, it not only affects their personal performance but also disrupts team dynamics and strategy.

Additionally, given the competitive nature of football, having key players like Matondo and Cortes available for a series of matches can boost team morale and provide tactical flexibility.

For a side that has struggled for goals this season, having two attackers back in contention will certainly be a huge boost.
