David Edgar issues verdict on Rangers reinvesting money from Cyriel Dessers sale

David Edgar admits he’s unsure if Rangers will reinvest the money generated from Cyriel Dessers’ sale towards strengthening the first-team squad.

Kemar Roofe and Abdallah Sima’s departures have already left Gers shy in the final third.

It’s also understood that Dessers could be on his way out and while Hamza Igamane has joined, there is a need for another number nine.

Via Twitter, Edgar wrote: “That’s a tough one. It depends if PC sees the two there as his first picks.

“But if quality is available at that price, do it.”

Rangers have to re-invest the Cyriel Dessers money in the first-team squad

It is crucial for Gers to reinvest the money from Dessers’ sale back into the first-team squad.

The departures of Roofe and Sima have left the team short in the final third, and Dessers’ potential exit would further deplete their attacking options.

With Igamane joining, Gers still need another reliable number nine to be a regular instead of providing cover and competition in the forward line.

The club should take advantage of the funds from the Nigeria international’s sale to bring in a quality replacement who can contribute immediately.

By reinvesting the money, Gers can strengthen their squad depth and competitiveness.

This is especially important given the demanding schedule of domestic and European competitions.

Failure to adequately replace departing players could hinder the team’s progress and ambitions for the season and another manager will thus not be backed by the board.
