Doctor View: Striker at risk of failing medical if needed as Everton table £25m+ offer

Roma striker Tammy Abraham is at risk of potentially failing his Everton medical due to a previous injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that ACL setbacks that involve other structures like the meniscus and MCL, which happened with the former Chelsea striker, can be flagged in pre-transfer checks.

The Toffees already have a bid on the table for the 26-year-old England international which is understood to be worth £25.3million. [Corriere Della Sera, 1 August]

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Abraham:

I’m typically looking around 18 months after injury for a fair assessment of where that player is.

In his case, that would be around the turn of the year.

ACL injuries – particularly ones that also involve other structures like the meniscus and MCL – can cause issues with the medical but it all comes down to the full extent of damage and if there’s anything outside the norm.

Something like abnormally increased cartilage wear and tear is certainly possible.”

Everton must avoid signing Tammy Abraham

The Englishman’s injury history raises concerns about reliability and missing significant time could disrupt team cohesion.

His performance has been inconsistent, with a notable drop since his debut season at Roma, suggesting he might not be the guaranteed goal scorer the Toffees need.

The 26-year-old’s past performances in the Premier League too, have been nothing to write home about so this is a signing that they must avoid.
