Everton make offer to hijack Inter Milan move for int'l midfielder - report

Everton have submitted a transfer offer to try and hijack Inter Milan’s move for Tanner Tessmann this summer, according to Pro Soccer Wire.

The American outlet reported on its website on Friday (12 July) that the Toffees and Eredivisie side Feyenoord have made offers for the Venezia midfielder, despite a move to Inter appearing to be close.

Venezia are understood to be looking for between £5.9million and £6.7million [€7-€8million] for the American international’s signature, with Serie A side Parma also understood to be in the mix to try and sign the 22-year-old.

While Inter remain interested in trying to sign Tessman this summer, a source close to the deal has suggested that the race for his services “is still open” with no destination yet confirmed.

Everton haven’t been linked with Tessmann throughout the summer transfer window so while this reported bid may come as a total shock, it could represent an exciting addition to Sean Dyche’s squad this summer.

The 22-year-old midfielder had an impressive season as Venezia won promotion from Serie B last season, scoring seven goals and laying on three assists in 42 appearances in his third campaign with the Italian club.

Dyche’s Toffees would have no issue matching the £6.7million valuation and while they appear likely to prioritise additions at the top end of the pitch, a move for an international midfielder may well be too good to turn down.

While supporters won’t know much about the American international, Inter Milan’s interest shows just how highly he must be rated. The European giants have an eye for talent and must think he’s the real deal if they’re keen to sign him.

Hopefully, the Toffees haven’t left their approach too late and will manage to find a way to get this deal over the line and beat Inter to Tessmann’s signature.
