Everton star Tim Iroegbunam has wished his former Aston Villa youth teammate Myles Sonha the best after he announced his retirement due to injury.

The 22-year-old shared via Instagram on 16 November that he has called time on his playing career after suffering ACL injuries in back-to-back seasons.

Despite this disappointment, it is clear that the youngster has plenty of support from his former teammates in the game.

Replying to the announcement, Ireogbunam said: “My bro man, all the best”.

It is always sad to see young players being forced into early retirement due to injury but after three knee issues which surgery failed to correct, this appears to be the right time for Sonha to make this difficult decision.

As frustrating as this must be for the Villa starlet, the positivity that has come from ex-teammates on social media is certainly great to see.

Iroegbunam played in the academy set up at Villa Park with the defender and it is clear there is still a relationship there.

This has been maintained despite a move to Goodison for the 21-year-old over the summer which has gone well so far.

The defensive midfielder was one of the standout players in a frustrating start to the season for Sean Dyche but has seen his role reduced in recent weeks due to injury.

Whether playing regularly or not, the Englishman has shown his class on and off the pitch since joining the Toffees and this is just another example despite a difficult scenario.
