Exclusive: Man United ready offer for Tottenham forgotten man

Man United will offer Sergio Reguilon a route back to Old Trafford this summer as they plot a move to sign him.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the 20-time champions want to sign a left-back to provide cover for Luke Shaw.

The England international has struggled with injuries during his time at Old Trafford, and having backup for him is a priority for Erik ten Hag.

Ben Chilwell is a player that United are also monitoring, but Reguilon could provide a more straightforward option after spending six months on loan at the club last season.

The Spaniard wouldn’t need time to settle in due to his past experiences, and sources say the Premier League giants could sign Reguilon at a cut price.

Other European teams are interested in the 27-year-old, but a move to United would allow him to stay in the Premier League.

Even though Spurs initially signed Reguilon for £32million, Football Insider revealed they’re willing to make a huge loss and sell him for around £10million.

That’s because Reguilon is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, with the Spurs boss wanting him off the books.

It’s a deal that could benefit all parties, as it would allow Tottenham to gain some money to reinvest while Reguilon can move on with his career.

Postecoglou showcased he had no intention of using him by sending Reguilon out on two loan spells last season, first with United and then with Brentford.

During his time at Old Trafford, Reguilon featured 12 times in all competitions as he provided injury cover.
