‘Gone really quiet’: Journalist says he’s no longer hearing about £60m striker signing for Arsenal

Arsenal have been linked with all sorts of strikers over the past 18 months as the Gunners have looked to bolster their frontline.

Arsenal have been linked with Ivan Toney in recent times, while Victor Osimhen is also said to be a target.

Evan Ferguson is another player who has had tentative links to Arsenal over the past 18 months.

The Irishman is seen as a top talent within the Premier League, and a big move could be on the horizon for the Brighton star.

However, according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, this trail has gone cold again.

Indeed, the journalist says that while he was once hearing a lot about Ferguson potentially joining Arsenal, things have now gone really quiet on that front.

Evan Ferguson to Arsenal has gone quiet

Kay shared an update on the so-called £100m man and his links to Arsenal.

“I think you will see the money spent there (on a winger). And a number six. Evan Ferguson was a shout a little while ago, but that seems to have gone really quiet now,” Kay said.

Evan Ferguson’s stock has fallen

Evan Ferguson’s links to Arsenal have slowed down, as have his links to almost every other club.

Once upon a time, Ferguson was being linked to every top team in Europe, but now, his stock has seriously fallen.

Ferguson only scored six Premier League goals last season, and while that is a solid return for a 19-year-old, he’s not scored a single goal in 2024.

Top teams seem to have gone off the idea of signing Ferguson at this point, but at the age of just 19, he has plenty of time to get back on track and, eventually, earn himself a move to one of Europe’s elite.

Don’t be surprised if Arsenal revisit Ferguson as a target in a few years’ time if he can rediscover his best form.
