Marvin Bartley waxed lyrical about Connor Barron after he starred for Rangers against Olympiacos on Thursday.
The Light Blues played out a 1-1 draw with the Greek giants in Athens in the UEFA Europa League on 7 November, with Cyriel Dessers netting for the visitors.
Bartley was impressed with what he saw from Philippe Clement’s side on the evening but singled out Barron for praise.
“Much better performance from Rangers there,” he wrote on X (7 November).
“Clement got the tactics spot on, only thing missing was Dessers taking one of those first-half opportunities.
“[Nicolas] Raskin was very good but for me the star man was Barron. He’s becoming a joy to watch with that infectious energy.”
Connor Barron shines for Rangers v Olympiacos
Rangers’ performances this season have left much to be desired, with the club sitting nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the title race, but Barron has been a consistent performer for them.
While the likes of James Tavernier, Robin Propper and Cyriel Dessers have come in for a lot of criticism, the 22-year-old has not let his standards drop, especially in recent weeks, starting in all but two of the Gers’ 19 games in all competitions this season.
The midfielder’s displays for the Ibrox outfit have seen him earn a call-up to the Scotland national team ahead of this month’s international break, which begins after their home clash with Hearts on Sunday (10 November).
Barron was also impressive against Motherwell at the weekend, helping Clement’s side come from behind to win 2-1 and qualify for the League Cup final.
The manager will now be hopeful that the former Aberdeen man returns from international duty unscathed.
In other Rangers news, the Light Blues could give Clement the sack despite £2million news.
