King says Tottenham may have signed Son replacement already, he likely recommended him

Bryan King has insisted that Son Heung-Min will likely have recommended Yang Min-Hyeok to Tottenham.

Spurs have confirmed the signing of the 18-year-old attacker from Gangwon FC, and he will officially join up with the club in January 2025.

The ex-Tottenham scout admitted that Yang will likely see Son as his idol and could even eventually replace him in North London.

“Obviously, Spurs are looking at young talent throughout the world,” King exclusively told Tottenham News.

“They brought the other two youngsters in from Croatia and Sweden. Now they have brought in this player.

“Obviously I’d imagine he has been recommended by Son Heung-min.

“It is another connection with South Korea, Son is getting older, and this kid could be an ideal replacement for him.

“Son is a wide player who loves scoring and setting goals up, and Yang sounds like he could materialise into a very similar player to the one Tottenham have already got.

“It will be exciting to see if Yang can follow in the footsteps of, I’d imagine, his idol.”

With the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall also signed, albeit for more immediate impacts in the first team, Yang also fits into that category.

Of course, he won’t replace Son straight away, but Ange Postecoglou is certainly building for the future in North London – something that could be hugely beneficial.

With John Wenham tipping Alejo Veliz for another loan exit next season, there could be space for another young attacker to stamp their mark on things, with Yang potentially that player in the second half of the campaign.
