Everton are set to be handed the keys to Bramley-Moore Dock by Laing O’Rourke in December, according to Liverpool Echo.
The news outlet reports [10 December] that the Everton Stadium will be completed this month after a construction period of just under three-and-a-half years, which is set to boast some magnificent features.
In the coming months, the Blues will conduct a host of test events, with the first competitive match set to be played at the start of next season.
The new stadium looked inundated in recent footage [The Mirror, 5 December], and it remains to be seen how the Merseyside outfit will address those issues.
Bramley-Moore Dock important step for Everton
The new stadium will have a seating capacity of 52,888, bringing in more revenue for the Toffees.
While Goodison Park boasts a rich history of over 130 years, having seen the ups and downs of the team, it was arguably time for the Blues to move to a more high-end facility.
While the farewell will undoubtedly be emotional, fans hope to give the grand old stadium a proper goodbye at the end of this season.
Everton are currently languishing around the relegation zone, and it would be embarrassing for them to start the next campaign at the new ground in the Championship.
On top of the venue change, the Toffees will have new owners soon, with The Friedkin Group’s takeover expected in the coming days [Alan Myers, 8 December].
Things aren’t encouraging for the Goodison faithful on the pitch right now, but they have a future to look forward to, with anticipation around Bramley Moore Dock and the Friedkin’s ownership.
The new era is finally coming.
