Liverpool have already begun scouring the transfer market to find a box-office replacement for Mohamed Salah amid speculation over his future.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game as he exclusively told Football Insider that the recruitment team are working on potential alternatives.
Salah, 32, has entered the final year of his contract and will be free to discuss a pre-contract move abroad from January ahead of making the move in the summer of 2025.
Interest from Saudi Arabia has been long-standing, with clubs looking to make him the face of the Saudi Pro League in a mega-money deal.
Meanwhile, the Reds remain intent on keeping him at the club beyond the end of the season and will push for him to commit to terms until a deal is officially agreed elsewhere.
Despite this, they have turned their attention towards the transfer market and are lining up replacements for their star man – although the process is already proving difficult.

Salah remains an important part of Arne Slot’s side and has scored ten goals and provided ten assists in 17 appearances so far this season.
Brown, who spent over a decade at Man United during their most successful period and has a wealth of experience working closely with players and agents insisted that his talent will be hard to replicate regardless of their transfer activity.
“Liverpool are already actively searching for top replacements,” he told Football Insider.
“But he’s the best player in the world in his position, of all of the players who are left-footed right-wingers.
“He’s the best and nobody can really match up to him.
“So it won’t be an easy task for them to find somebody who can replicate his form.
“They’ll have a feeling, though, about whether or not he’ll still be at the club next season.
“There’s been a lot of talk over his contract and whether or not a decision has been made already, but I have heard they’re planning for both eventualities.
“This means they’re already identifying players who could come into the team in his position.“
