'Massive' - Sutton predicts result of Everton clash v Bournemouth in new relegation verdict

Everton will head into the September international break without a Premier League win after their clash with Bournemouth on Saturday 31 August, according to Chris Sutton.

The BBC Sport pundit believes the Toffees’ underwhelming start to the season will continue and they will have to settle for a draw against the Cherries, predicting that the two sides will play out a 1-1 draw.

Although Sutton admits that this match is “massive” for Sean Dyche, he admits that he still expects the Blues to find a way to dodge the drop into the Championship between now and the end of the season.

Writing for BBC Sport (29 August) he said: “This is massive for Sean Dyche. They’ve not scored, conceded seven and the Everton fans are pretty underwhelmed.

“I think Everton will stay in the Premier League this season. They could do with a goal against Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth who came on leaps and bounds last season.”

Will Everton sack Sean Dyche after Goodison Park update?

As Sutton suggests, Saturday afternoon’s clash is bigger for Dyche than it is for anyone else associated with Everton football club. Time is running out for the Englishman to show that he can help the Blues dodge the drop.

While the bank hasn’t been broken over the course of the summer window, the Blues have backed their new manager well in the lead-up to the season. Now he has to show that he can get a tune out of these players.

Iraola’s Bournemouth are by no means an easy side to play against, but they are beatable. Having picked up a much-needed win over Doncaster in the Carabao Cup, the Toffees need to follow that result up again this afternoon.

If they don’t, it could be a dangerous international break for Dyche. The Blues boss will be under plenty of pressure over the next couple of weeks if his side are winless after the opening month of league fixtures.
