New English club interested in transfer for exit-linked Rangers attacker - report

Rangers winger Scott Wright has attracted interest from Plymouth Argyle during the summer transfer window, according to David Edgar.

Edgar reported via the Heart and Hand Patreon page (24 July) that the Pilgrims alongside Sheffield Wednesday and some unnamed clubs are keen on securing the Scotsman’s signature this summer.

The Light Blues are unlikely to stand in Wright’s way if a deal can be reached for his exit and there is a belief that his exit could happen quite quickly due to the amount of offers available to the 26-year-old.

Reports had suggested the Ibrox man has interested clubs abroad while Wednesday, Preston North End and Derby County have all made enquiries about his availability [Darren Witcoop, 23 July].

Will Scott Wright exit Rangers amid Plymouth Argyle transfer update?

It is everyone’s interest that Wright leaves Rangers this summer. While the Scotsman has been nowhere near as bad as some pundits and fans have made out, it is clear that his race is run in a Light Blue shirt.

The 26-year-old doesn’t have that bit of quality that helps him stand out among the crowd in Glasgow and too often he has flattered to deceive without being able to make a genuine impact in the biggest matches.

With Oscar Cortes already returning to Philippe Clement’s side and further attacking additions being targeted ahead of the summer transfer window, Wright’s place in the squad seems to be slipping away from him.

Hopefully, one of the many clubs interested in his services will make an offer that matches the Gers’ valuation in the coming days so that this deal can be concluded as Edgar has suggested.

Any money raised by his sale will be able to be reinvested back into Clement’s playing squad as he looks to make a few more additions ahead of the new Premiership season.
