Pundit names real valuation for 'Fantastic' Tottenham target, wants to see deal done

Tottenham will be priced out of a deal to sign Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window, Paul Robinson has said.

According to the Daily Mail [7 June], Spurs have been impressed by the 25-year-old this season, a player who is said to have a £60million release clause in his current contract at Selhurst Park.

Having earned his spot in the England squad at Euro 2024, Tottenham are not the only Premier League team interested in his services, with Chelsea the latest to join the transfer race [GiveMeSport].

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Robinson said he expects the player’s valuation to be higher than the clause in his contract.

“I’d be surprised if Tottenham met the £60million release clause,” Robinson said. “They’re not renowned for paying huge transfer fees for players. Tanguy Ndombele is, obviously, the record transfer fee and we all know how that worked out.

“They have to get it right. Eze is going to be widely touted, not just in the Premier League, but throughout Europe. If he’s got a £60m buyout clause, I suspect the auction will begin somewhere around £65 to £70m, which would price Tottenham out of a deal.

“I would love to see him at Tottenham. I think he’s a fantastic player and has been a great talent when fit this season. With him and Olise, Crystal Palace have looked like a different team, especially since Oliver Glasner came into the club.

“But if he’s got a £60million release clause, the auction will start higher, and even if Spurs are at the table, I think they’ll be priced out of a deal for him.“

Eze is currently one of the most exciting attacking stars in the Premier League, having notched 11 goals and four assists after recovering from injury earlier in the season.

With over a century of appearances for the Eagles, Eze’s talent and experience at such a young age will make him an alluring target this summer, one that Spurs must be in the conversation for.

He is unlikely to still be at Selhurst Park by the time the 2024/25 campaign kicks off. The only question is where he will be plying his trade instead.
