Rangers ready move to sign midfielder, £4m needed – report

Rangers are ready to try to sign Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller in January, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported on 13 November that Motherwell will demand at least £4million for their star, as they anticipate winter bids from both Old Firm clubs.

The 18-year-old has been a regular for the Well so far this season, and the Fir Park club won’t accept any less than £4million for the midfielder, with Liverpool tipped to join a potential bidding war.

Neither Liverpool, Celtic, nor the Gers have made official contact with Motherwell over Miller’s availability, but Philippe Clement’s side are still expected to launch an approach for the Scotland starlet.

Lennon Miller transfer could be transformational for Rangers

Beating arch-rivals Celtic and Premier League leaders Liverpool to the signature of Miller in January would be one hell of a statement, particularly for a club who have recently been a shambles off-field.

The Light Blues’ January transfer strategy – and the finances to pursue it – could be determined by the future of Clement, but if the Belgian stays put, going all out to sign Miller is a wise move.

Connor Barron – signed from Aberdeen in the summer – and Nico Raskin’s partnership at the base of Clement’s midfield has been praised this season, and Miller could prove to be the missing link.

The Gers have been criticised this season for their poor attacking play which has often left Cyriel Dessers isolated, but Miller would bring those late runs into the box to cause all sorts of problems.

Evident issues exist across the pitch, and off it, at Ibrox, but adding Miller to his side – at the expense of Celtic – could be exactly what the Bears need to re-gain some much-needed impetus in the title race.

In other Rangers news, the club are planning on making a headline boardroom appointment before their AGM early next month.
