Rangers forward Ross McCausland was absent from the Northern Ireland squad due to injury as they were held to a goalless draw against Belarus on Saturday 12 October.
The winger has featured in five of Rangers’ opening seven league fixtures and has been a mainstay in the Northern Ireland squad since his international debut back in November 2023.
McCausland was in the starting 11 for Rangers’ most victory against ST Johnstone.
Michael O’Neill confirmed prior to the Belarus fixture that the forward would be missing however revealed that McCausland could be fit to face Bulgaria this Tuesday (14 October), in quotes reported by the Newsletter.
Ross McCausland has a bright future
McCausland’s last two years in football have presented the talented winger with a number of huge opportunities.
The Northern Irish attacker made his debut for The Gers’ first team in November 2022, replacing Amad Diallo in what was a 3-1 win over Hearts.
A year later he was called up to his senior national side for the first time before making his debut three days later against Finland, albeit in a game that his side were on the receiving end of a 4-0 hammering. In the same week he was handed his first start for Rangers.
McCausland however has impressed at every level he has played at and will only get better with more game time. His ability to beat defenders with his exceptional ball control and pace alongside his willingness to drive forward and be direct has been crucial in the decisions made to promote him over the past 12 months.
With over 50 first-team appearances already, McCausland is an integral part of the Rangers squad and the arrival of Philippe Clement in 2023 has done nothing but help him excel in his development and with him still just 21 years old, he has plenty more time to add to his game.
