Rangers to make new loan bid as club demands emerge - report

Rangers will return to make a new loan offer for Joan Jordan after Sevilla’s demands for a deal emerged, according to Fernando Serrano.

Writing on his personal X account (13 July), the Spanish journalist reports that the Light Blues will return with a new loan offer after having a bid rejected [Fabrizio Romano, 13 July] for the 30-year-old.

Rangers offered to pay 30 per cent of the midfielder’s wages [El Sevillista, 13 July], but Sevilla will refuse to pay anything more than half if they are to allow him to leave.

It’s evident that midfield is an area of the pitch that Philippe Clement wants to strengthen this summer, and that makes this deal an exciting one.

Currently, Nicolas Raskin, Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron make up the central midfield options for the Belgian boss, while Tom Lawrence, Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell are all potential alternatives too.

But Jordan would come in and offer great experience and quality to a team that is fairly untested at the top level, while also helping them to dominate games and be battle-tested.

A loan makes sense for everyone but if the reports of a 30 per cent wage bid are true then Rangers were just being very cheeky and trying their luck.

A 50-50 split would make a lot more sense considering the wage structure at Ibrox, and with his lack of game time and the new injury to Raskin, this could be a win-win for everyone involved.
