Report: Arsenal are already delighted with one summer signing and feel they've got a bargain

Now the dust has somewhat settled on Arsenal’s transfer window, it’s hard to quite decide whether it was a success for Edu and Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal signed some exceptional players, the likes of Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, two players who will definitely improve Arteta’s squad immediately.

That may not be true of Merino right now given his frustrating injury, but in time the Spaniard will make a big contribution to Arsenal’s title push.

That being said, Arsenal failed to sign a flagship player – they didn’t welcome another Kai Havertz or Declan Rice like the summer before.

Perhaps that signing was intended to be either Benjamin Sesko or Nico Williams, but ultimately neither were keen on a move.

Instead, Arsenal landed on Raheem Sterling – an exciting talent, but perhaps not the one fans originally imagined.

Arsenal amazed at the deal they agreed with Chelsea to sign Raheem Sterling

Alan Shearer was delighted with Sterling’s move to Arsenal, believing it was a great fit for the winger.

But judging by information shared by Standard Sport, Arsenal might be the party most thrilled by the loan deal.

Arsenal are said to be ‘delighted’ with the terms they agreed – paying no loan fee to sign Sterling.

The club also secured a favourable split with Chelsea on Sterling’s £300,000 pay packet, they certainly won’t be paying the majority.

Arsenal view Sterling as a valuable addition to their young squad, someone who can help get them over the line this season.

Sterling can even play as a false nine if required, and importantly his signing means Arsenal have the opportunity to finally rest Bukayo Saka.

Edu must try again to sign Nico Williams next summer

Whether Arsenal win the Premier League or not this season, Nico William remains the perfect signing for the Gunners.

Arsenal rejected a bid for Leandro Trossard in recent days, but may not do the same this time next year given the Belgian will then be 30-years-old.

And if that is to be the summer in which Arteta reshuffles his forward line, then both Sesko and Williams should be very welcome.

As mentioned, Arsenal didn’t quite get a flagship signing over the line this summer, even if their recruitment was smart.

And perhaps they can deliver two next summer to their increasingly expectant fans in north London.
