Report: Arsenal have a truly 'unbelievable' teenager who insiders now view as the future of the team's attack

Arsenal are currently flying high and will look to continue on their impressive run when they face Southampton this weekend.

The Gunners are yet to lose in all competitions this season and have won three games in a row going into Saturday’s Premier League meeting with the Saints.

Arsenal also have several brilliant youngsters in their ranks, including Ethan Nwaneri, who is quickly making a name for himself in the first-team.

Nwaneri famously became the Premier League’s youngest ever player when he came on against Brentford in 2022 at the age of 15 years and 181 days.

Two years on, Nwaneri has more than proven himself at Under-18 and Under-21 level, and is now being eased into the first-team.

The 17-year-old has made three senior appearances this season and scored twice in the Carabao Cup win over Bolton.

Nwaneri also made a very bright cameo in the 4-2 win over Leicester City, and it has now been reported what Arsenal insiders made of his display on the day.

Arsenal think Ethan Nwaneri is the future of Gunners attack

According to Miguel Delaney’s Reading the Game newsletter (4/10/2024, 12:30pm), the ‘wonder around Arsenal this weekend’ is whether Nwaneri will get more minutes against Southampton.

There is a ‘real buzz from his introduction against Leicester’, which was seen as a kind of ‘showcase of why everyone is so excited about him.’

Delaney continued: ‘At a moment when Arsenal needed a goal, Nwaneri came on and immediately beat two players before forcing a save from distance.

‘It just increased impetus in the team, although some of the staff were more impressed with his general game intelligence and the way he adapted.’

Delaney also wrote that ‘the 17-year-old is viewed as the future of the team’s attack’.

Nwaneri a star in the making at Arsenal

Nwaneri really is an “unbelievable” talent who, at 17 years of age, is showing all the signs that he can develop into an elite Premier League player.

Normally, a 17-year-old playing in the Under-21 setup is seen as an incredibly exciting talent. And just being in and around the first-team is even better.

However, Nwaneri is in that top tier of youngsters who is already playing competitive senior football. Not many youngsters are at that level at such a young age.
