Ipswich Town have ended any interest in Rangers star Tom Lawrence after being promoted to the Premier League, according to the Daily Record.

The Scottish outlet reports [12 June] that the Tractor Boys won’t be making a move to sign the Welshman this summer after a loan spell with them back in 2016.

Sources close to the club have “dismissed any interest”, which could see the 30-year-old now stay at Ibrox – although there is also interest from Turkey.

Lawrence has a year remaining on his contract and featured heavily, when fit, under Philippe Clement, who will likely be keen to keep hold of the versatile attacker.

Rangers could keep hold of Tom Lawrence

The Gers are set to undergo a massive rebuild this summer with plenty of stars departing Ibrox for various reasons.

The likes of John Lundstram and Ryan Jack will depart when their contracts end while Fabio Silva will leave when his loan expires.

This will see Clement need to add quality to what he has while looking to keep a base to his squad despite a frustrating end to the season.

With Rangers losing out to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race in the end and then conceding a last-minute winner in the cup final, they need to bounce back next season.

Keeping an experienced head in the squad like Lawrence could prove to be vital if they have any hope of a better season next time around.

New signings like Jefte may prove to be positive additions but they are inexperienced in Europe, relatively speaking, and especially in Scotland.

Mixing new signings with the experienced heads involved in the squad already is the best way to go this summer.

In other Rangers news, another free agent has admitted speculation is “going to happen” amid talk he could move to Ibrox.
