Tottenham scouts watch Javi Guerra with January bid on cards for Valencia gem

Tottenham are among several English clubs to have taken an interest in signing Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra, according to TBR Football.

The report (16 November) states that Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham have all been to watch the 21-year-old, who has been likened to Xabi Alonso.

It was reported by Caught Offside in September that “Guerra has a €100million (£84million) release clause, but Valencia may be willing to sell at €30million (£25million) or less.”

January reinforcements could prove crucial to Tottenham

With links to Guerra, Spurs’ desires to add to their squad in January are evident and he would be an excellent start to the New Year business.

Guerra not only has years of development ahead of him but has already showcased himself as having the necessary attributes to thrive at a top level. Having quality players around him at Spurs would only aid that development.

The Spaniard has already established himself as a first-team regular at Valencia at such a young age and his high-level performances have earned him interest from around Europe.

If Spurs are to conjure up some success from this season, they need to add additional quality to their squad and Guerra fits the bill.

As it stands, Tottenham find themselves 10th in the Premier League, albeit only three points behind rivals Arsenal in the final Champions League spot, and while that certainly isn’t unsalvageable, January will play a crucial role in deciding who can achieve European qualification.

In other Tottenham news, Micky van de Ven is out with a higher Grade 2 or potentially a Grade 3 hamstring tear, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
