Son Heung-min could be the only change Ange Postecoglou makes to his Tottenham team when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs will host the Cityzens on 30 October, with the North Londoners coming off a disappointing 1-0 loss against Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Against the Eagles, the Australian manager opted to start most of the players who were involved in the 4-1 rout of West Ham, but things turned out a bit different as Oliver Glasner’s team stumped the hosts.

Despite the recent defeat and a return to cup action, Postecouglou shouldn’t make too many changes and will start the strongest team available, with silverware as the clear aim.

Tottenham changes not expected against Manchester City

Fraser Forster usually comes in between the sticks for Tottenham during the cup ties, but Vicario, who made five saves in the Palace tie [FotMob], will likely start in goal.

The backline is also expected to remain the same, with Pedro Porro, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie starting.

Udgoie was a standout at the back despite the loss, winning nine of his duels, completing two dribbles and creating a chance.

Radu Dragusin has not been handed too many opportunities, and it’s highly unlikely the defender, who has played 90 minutes just three times this season, will start such a monumental game against City.

In the middle of the park, Yves Bissouma is once again expected to be the number six, with the Mali international completing 84 per cent of his passes at Selhurst Park, making one tackle and winning one aerial duel.

Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison will be the others in the engine room, with both of them being taken off at the hour mark against Glasner’s team.

Pape Matar Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur could provide more solidity in the middle of the park, but Postecoglou is adamant in his ways, and it’s unlikely that the Australian will change his approach even if it’s against Pep Guardiola.

Son Heung-min back in Tottenham attack

Tottenham predicted starting lineup against Manchester City.

Brannan Johnson has been in fine form recently, with an xG of 4.03 in the Premier League in eight starts, while Dominic Solanke has started in the last six league matches.

Richarlison has come back from injury, but the Brazilian’s impact as a substitute against Palace wasn’t encouraging, with just two touches in the opposition box.

Micky Moore deservedly started at Selhurst Park after an impressive performance in the 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League, but the youngster struggled to make an impact in the defeat.

But Son could be back to face City, with Postecouglou confirming after the Spurs loss that he could be available for the coming fixtures [THFC, 27 October].

Completing 84 per cent of his passes, as well as creating two chances as he scored in the 4-1 win over West Ham, the skipper will be desperate to make an impact on the biggest stage after his recent fitness issue.
