Philippe Clement is expected to make three changes as Rangers return to Scottish Premiership action at Dundee United on Sunday (15 September).

Returning to league football following the international break, the Belgian could bring in two of his new signings in the form of Nedim Bajrami and Neraysho Kasanwirjo to make their debuts at Tannacide.

Robin Propper, the injured Rabbi Matondo and captain James Tavernier could all be in line to be dropped after the 3-0 drubbing by Celtic before the break.

Philippe Clement faces questions at Rangers

In the wake of their thrashing at Celtic Park, questions have emerged over Jack Butland’s positioning and form in the biggest games, but Clement is surely set to keep faith with his number one.

The biggest changes following that heavy defeat must come in defence, especially after Propper was pulled from pillar to post, and he could be replaced by Neraysho Kasanwirjo.

John Souttar will keep his place next to Kasanwirjo, as will Jefte at left-back, but Clement’s key question ahead of this must-win match resides with the immediate future of Tavernier.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from Ibrox amid interest from Turkey [HITC], but even if he does stay put, should still come out of the firing line and allow Dujon Sterling to play right-back.

Sterling moving to the right flank frees up a spot in midfield, and that should see Nico Raskin make his long-awaited return to the starting side from injury and slot into the double-pivot next to Connor Barron.

Bajrami’s performances on international duty for Albania have whetted the appetites of fans, and Clement must bring him into the starting side for an immediate impact.

However, with Matondo and Oscar Cortes out injured and Ross McCausland still not fully trusted by Clement, Bajrami could be utilised on the left as Mohamed Diomande continues through the middle.

Vaclav Cerny also impressed during the international break with the Czech Republic after a woeful performance at Celtic Park, and he deserves a chance to redeem himself at Tannadice.

Cyriel Dessers was another who came under fire for his lacklustre finishing at Parkhead, but with Danilo suffering a new injury setback, the Nigerian is the clear choice to lead the line once more for the Gers.

In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has given his verdict on Clement’s long-term future following a “messy summer” at Ibrox.
