Wenham speculates Amanda Staveley role in consortium who want 'serious' Tottenham takeover

John Wenham has suggested Amanda Staveley could be looking to join a consortium interested in a takeover of Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose claims it would take “serious investment” to complete a takeover at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As reported by The Times (27 July), Tottenham are in talks to sell a minority stake in the club which would value it at as much as £3.75billion.

Staveley, who helped broker the deal for Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to take over Newcastle United, is understood to have expressed an interest in Spurs.

But Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has suggested the financier wouldn’t be able to do anything alone.

“The club are widely known to be up for sale at the right price,” Wenham said.

“I’m not sure what kind of backing Staveley has, I understand that she has got some money. However, it would take much more than it took to buy Newcastle to buy Tottenham.

“It would take some serious investment. Therefore, perhaps she is looking to be part of a consortium which is considering purchasing the club.”

Supporters of the club would no doubt welcome a takeover in North London.

Frustration toward Spurs’ current owners has been apparent for years now. Therefore, a change at the boardroom level would be greeted with open arms.

It could be exactly what the club needs to kick onto the next level.

Spurs are an incredibly interesting investment opportunity, with the club’s commercial business booming in recent years.

As a result, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see some serious investors step forward in the near future.
