Liverpool have some big contract situations that they need to address in the near future.
Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk are all out of contract at the end of the season.
However, for some reason, Liverpool seem to be prioritising other negotiations at the moment.
Ibrahima Konate is apparently close to signing a new deal at Anfield, and according to Fabrizio Romano, another contract renewal could be set to follow.
Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano says that Luis Diaz could be set to sign a new deal after Konate’s contract is sorted.
Fabrizio Romano shares Luis Diaz update
Romano shared an update on Diaz and his contract situation.
The journalist says that big clubs considered signing Diaz in the summer, but now, he could be set to sign a new contract at Liverpool.
“Luis Diaz in the summer, in August, it is true, some important clubs were prepared to attack the situation of Luis Diaz. Credit to Liverpool because Richard Hughes and Arne Slot together spoke to Luis Diaz and presented the new project,” Romano said.
“Let me tell you today that I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool after Ibou Konate, who will be the next one to extend his contract, negotiate a new deal with Luis Diaz. Liverpool want to try to make a new deal happen with Lucho.”
Which other Liverpool players need new contracts?
Diaz may sign a new deal with Liverpool soon, but the hard work doesn’t stop there for Richard Hughes.
Indeed, there are a number of pressing contract issues at Anfield right now.
Liverpool players who need new contracts Expiry date Mohamed Salah 2025 Trent Alexander-Arnold 2025 Virgil van Dijk 2025 Vitezslav Jaros 2025 Andy Robertson 2026 Ibrahima Konate 2026 Caoimhin Kelleher 2026
Of course, everyone knows about the situations of Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold, but there are some other big decisions to make here.
Andy Robertson is slowing down, but he’s still a key player at Liverpool, and a member of the leadership group.
Vitezslav Jaros may not be that important a player, but he has played some games this season and with Caoimhin Kelleher unhappy with his current situation, the Czech goalkeeper could be due an internal promotion.
Liverpool’s priorities have to be Salah, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold, but the Reds do have a few other situations they will also have to address in the coming months.
The Reds have a big job on their hands if they want to keep this group of players together.
