Everton academy product Liam Higgins has joined Bala Town on a permanent deal, the top-flight Welsh club have confirmed.
Cymru Premier outfit Bala shared the news on their official X page [18 October], capturing the midfielder after his release by the Toffees in the summer.
Higgins, 21, was previously a regular in the Everton Under-21s side, coming through the ranks from the age of 15 at Finch Farm to earn international recognition for Wales Under-17s and later being called up for the Under-19s.
Everton gem starts new chapter in Wales
While Higgins did not make any first-team appearances for Everton, he remained highly regarded at Finch Farm but was allowed to fly the nest at the end of his last contract.
At the age of 21, the midfield man needs senior football and makes the move 70 miles south to kickstart his career.
Bala have featured in European competition in nine of the last 12 seasons, including this year’s appearance in the Conference League first qualifying round.
The seventh-placed Cymru side reached the second qualifying round of the Europa League in 2020-21, eventually beaten by 10-time Belgian champions Standard Liege.
Sean Dyche has previously offered opportunities to several youngsters during his time at Goodison Park, with teenagers Roman Dixon and Harrison Armstrong both having featured in the Premier League this season, but it was not to be for Higgins.
