£37m update emerges as Everton in contact with PL rivals over first-team sale - Paul Joyce

Everton and Newcastle are in talks as they aim to find a resolution over the future of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to Paul Joyce.

The Times journalist reported that the Toffees are holding out for a 37million fee if they are to sell the 27-year-old this summer.

The England international has been offered a new deal at Goodison Park, but thus far, has very little incentive to put pen to paper to it.

The Toffees must stick to their £37million valuation of Calvert-Lewin when negotiating with Newcastle and not anything lower than that.

The Magpies are a super-rich club backed by Saudi’s sovereign wealth fund and have been known to spend big money on new signings.

On the other hand, Everton are under financial pressure and selling the England international for less than his true value would be a mistake.

The club needs to raise funds but also must ensure they get a fair price for their prized asset.

Calvert-Lewin has proven himself in the Premier League and at 27, he is entering his prime years and has the potential to become an even more prolific goal scorer.

While he may have had injury concerns previously, he appeared to be relatively during the back end of the season which is why he justifies the outlay.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have now issued contact with their Premier League rivals to sign a midfielder who recently won the Champions League.
