Ex-PL CEO: Leicester told to sign perfect £25m Dewsbury-Hall replacement

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Celtic’s Matt O’Riley would be the perfect replacement for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester City.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the 23-year-old would cost between £20-25million.

Football Insider revealed on 1 July that Newcastle and West Ham are among the Premier League clubs joining the race to sign O’Riley.

It is believed Southampton, Chelsea and Brighton are also keen – while Leicester and Serie A side Atalanta have been linked.

The Foxes lost Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea last month in a deal which was necessary for the club to meet Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

O’Riley could become ‘Premier League star’ at Leicester, says Wyness

Wyness claimed O’Riley could be a “star in the Premier League”.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There’s been a lot of talk and interest in O’Riley, but no one has pushed the button.

“It’s interesting. These Old Firm players either work well or they don’t.

“O’Riley is one I can see adapting, he could fit into Dewsbury-Hall’s place.

“They could get him at a reasonable price – £20-25million.

“He’s talented, he’s of the right age – and he could be a star in the Premier League.

“O’Riley is probably the closest you’ll get to a like-for-like Dewsbury-Hall replacement.”
