Journalist: Rangers star hobbles off v Ajax in brand new injury worry

Philippe Clement has been handed a fresh injury worry in pre-season after Nicolas Raskin was forced off as Rangers lost 2-1 against Ajax.

The Light Blues suffered defeat to the Dutch giants in their third pre-season game of the summer, but midfielder Raskin hobbled off on the stroke of half-time after a “poor challenge”.

He was replaced by summer signing Connor Barron, but journalist Joshua Barrie claimed on his personal X account [13 July] that it “will be a worry for Clement”.

Rangers injury curse strikes again

Last season was an absolute nightmare for Clement with the sheer number of injuries the team picked up before and after his arrival.

Key members of the team were lost at crucial moments, and the manager made it clear that he wanted to address the problem during the summer break with training and medical staff looked at in depth.

However, instances such as these simply can’t be avoided and the hope now will be that his fellow Belgian hasn’t suffered any serious issues.

It was a bad tackle and with the midfield area of the squad still relatively slim with Raskin and Barron joined by Mohamed Diomande as the only natural options in the deeper positions, plans may change if it’s something severe.

The season hasn’t even officially kicked off yet but the manager is dealing with injury problems already, and if it’s a sign of things to come for the 2024/25 campaign then there are going to be big problems at Ibrox and Hampden.
