Leeds United fans stunned by Ao Tanaka as shock stats emerge

Leeds United fans loved what they saw from midfielder Ao Tanaka in their 2-1 Championship win over Watford on Tuesday (October 22).

The 26-year-old joined from German side Fortuna Dusseldorf late on in the summer transfer window and has made eight Championship appearances for his new club.

Tanaka was a stand-out in Leeds’ win over Watford, winning possession 12 times, making 6 tackles, and completing 57 passes as the West Yorkshire club head to the top of the table

Daniel Farke’s side took the lead just four minutes in after Watford ‘keeper Daniel Bachmann let Largie Ramazani’s tame effort slip through his hands and cross the line.

Brenden Aaronson then got in on the act just three minutes later to put Leeds 2-0 up with a close-range effort following Wilfried Gnonto’s deflected cross.

With Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev both sidelined with injuries, Tanaka has a chance to nail down a spot in Leeds’ starting eleven as they push for promotion.

If he continues to perform like he did against Watford, he’ll be a fan favourite in no time, with many already taking to X, formally known as Twitter, to let him know how impressed they are.
