'Massive Effect' - Pundit view: Rangers season ruined amid Ibrox mess updates

Derek Ferguson fears Rangers being forced to play home games away from Ibrox could have a “massive effect” on the team.

Delayed building work on the Copland Road stand has put the Light Blues’ stadium out of action to kick off the new campaign, with a deal now confirmed to imminent to play at Hampden Park.

Chairman John Bennett apologised to supporters but could not provide clarity on how long the displacement will prove to be and ex-Gers midfielder Ferguson believes the uncertainty on top of the overhaul of the playing staff will set the team back.

He exclusively told Ibrox News: “Well we don’t know that but we’re looking at it and starting to weigh up the situation, so it could have a massive effect.

“Everything that’s going on at the minute in terms of players coming and going this just adds to it. It’s just circumstances that should never have been like this.

“This is what we are going to wait and see, if there’s going to be an impact. I hope not, but do you know something? It wouldn’t surprise me if it does effect the team.”

John Bennett short of answers to Ibrox debacle at Rangers

Rangers will not be present at Ibrox to start the season thanks to issues with Copland Road stand works.

The transfer business is starting to get bogged down as the Light Blues struggle to shift senior players in order to land the experience Clement wants to support the youthful signings he has already made.

He would therefore have wanted everything to be conducive to his squad settling into a rhythm early and building up a head of steam since so many players will either be new or uncertain of their futures.

Instead he has got the exact opposite in a situation that could surely have been avoided with better planning, and even if results don’t immediately suffer it is a major extra consideration the manager and his players should not have been lumbered with.

In other Rangers news, Nils Koppen has been seen in constant communications over new signings in the Netherlands.
