Noni Madueke sends cryptic message to Chelsea teammate Chukwuemeka

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke sent a cryptic message to teammate Carney Chukwuemeka on social media following the midfielder’s return in their 5-0 League Cup win over Barrow.

Chukwuemeka, 20, replaced Joao Felix for the final 15 minutes of Chelsea’s comprehensive League Cup victory against the League Two side on Tuesday (September 25).

This marks his first appearance under new manager Enzo Maresca, who had previously banished the central midfielder to Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’.

Alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell, Chukwuemeka had been deemed surplus to requirements by the West London club.

Unlike Sterling, however, neither Chilwell nor Chukwuemeka were able to secure a move over the summer and have since been reintegrated back into the first team.

Both featured in the win over Barrow but are yet to play a single Premier League minute as Maresca’s side sit in fifth.

Madueke, 22, has been one of Chelsea’s best players so far this season, scoring four goals across all competitions for the club so far this season.

His fine form earned him a call-up to England’s senior team under interim manager Lee Carsley, with the right winger providing an assist for captain Harry Kane in their 2-0 UEFA Nations League win over Finland.

The Chelsea star left a comment on Chukwuemeka’s most recent Instagram post implying he wants his teammate to stay at the club.

Chelsea, alongside other qualified teams, will learn their League Cup round four opponent on Wednesday (September 25).

For now, they’ll need to turn their attention to their Premier League clash against potential ‘top four’ dark horses Brighton on Saturday (September 28).
