Rangers have now told Aberdeen that they are planning to sign Connor Barron this summer after agreeing terms, according to the Daily Record.

The outlet has reported (19 June) that the 21-year-old is set for a medical before “registering him on a freedom of contract”.

There isn’t yet an agreement in place between the two clubs and the Gers may “take their chances” at a tribunal over a compensation fee.

The Dons could be entitled to around £500,000 if he had left Scotland and a tribunal will award them a fee in that region.

Clement has a sizable squad rebuild on his hands at Ibrox and it looks like he is looking to get business done early this summer.

Signing Barron could prove to be a great piece of business given the form that he has shown for Aberdeen at just 21 years old.

This has seen interest come from Scotland, England and across Europe but it now seems that Rangers is his chosen destination.

With Ryan Jack departing at the end of his contract this summer, he could prove to be the ideal replacement for the Light Blues.

The deal has already been held up once and with that Clement will be eager to get it over the line as soon as possible.

With the worst-case scenario being that the Gers have to pay £500,000, they have found themselves a great summer bargain early on.

If they can find these sorts of stars for cheaper fees, they will have a positive transfer window no doubt.
