Report: 'One of England's most exciting prospects' is now set to sign Tottenham contract

Tottenham Hotspur have routinely struck gold in recent years when it comes to landing top talents.

For instance, when Spurs signed Pape Matar Sarr back in 2022, rival directors were reported to have congratulated the Lilywhites for landing him.

Destiny Udogie has also gone on to shine for Tottenham after being signed as a somewhat unknown quantity in England, even though he was highly rated in Italy.

And just this year, Spurs have signed Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall and Yang Min-hyeok, three teenagers who look set for incredibly bright futures.

Now, Tottenham are reportedly set to secure the future of another top talent, one who is already on their books but whose future hasn’t been all that certain recently.

Mikey Moore set to pen first Tottenham contract

The player in question is Mikey Moore, who has made a real name for himself at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium the past couple of years.

According to Jack Pitt-Brooke of The Athletic, Spurs and Moore have come to an agreement over what is set to be his first professional contract.

This is due to be finalised on Sunday, the day of his 17th birthday, and he is set to receive more money than Tottenham have ever offered a 17-year-old before.

Michael Bridge of Sky Sports News has corroborated Pitt-Brooke’s report, saying Moore has agreed a three-year deal, the longest allowed by FIFA regulations for players under the age of 18.

Bridge also described the Tottenham talent as “one of England’s most exciting prospects”, as per the Sky Sports website.

Spurs set to retain Moore amid interest from Manchester giants

At just 16 years of age, Moore has effectively outgrown the Under-18s setup already, with 16 goals and nine assists from just 14 U18 outings last term.

Moore has already featured competitively for Tottenham’s senior team, getting minutes in Spurs’ last two games of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou included him in the contingent for the pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, where he featured in friendlies.

This is great news for Tottenham, who look set to retain a player who has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Goal.com previously reported that the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were keen on Moore.

Things are always uncertain when it comes to players who are yet to sign their first pro deals, as they can be targeted by other clubs.

For instance, Chido Obi-Martin is set to swap Arsenal for Manchester United, Sky Sports reporting that he had doubts over the north London club’s pathway to the first team.

It has also been reported that Moore is set to be in the first-team picture for Tottenham this season, so it will be exciting to see how he gets on.
