Revealed: Liverpool make decision on accepting poss Jan bid for Chiesa

Liverpool are not considering allowing forward Federico Chiesa to leave the club in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a return to Italy, with Cesc Fabregas’ Como reportedly interested in a mid-season swoop.

Reports in Chiesa’s homeland say a loan bid will be offered to Liverpool, but sources say it is “very unlikely” the Reds will accept.

The winger has been out of the frame at Anfield in recent weeks due to an injury.

Chiesa has been unlucky but his fitness issues were part of the reason Liverpool paid a reported fee of just £12.5million to land him in the summer.

It is believed the deal was seen as “risky” in some quarters on Merseyside, but he is expected to return to action and play a part for the Premier League leaders in the coming weeks.

Full focus is on getting the Italy international back to full fitness and available for selection – rather than a potential exit in January.

Liverpool will reject Chiesa bids in January

Chiesa has played just 78 minutes in three appearances for Liverpool this term.

He notched an assist in his only start – a 59-minute display as a right winger against West Ham in the League Cup.

The 27-year-old signed a contract until June 2028 in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are top of the Premier League and are playing in three competitions – which could become four when they kick off in the FA Cup third round in January.
