'Superb' - David Edgar in awe of Rangers star after what he did v Dundee at Ibrox

David Edgar has been left in awe of Jefte following the defender’s “superb” performance for Rangers in their win over Dundee.

Philippe Clement’s side marked their return to Ibrox with a 3-0 win in the Scottish League Cup on Saturday (21 September) thanks to a brace from Cyriel Dessers and a second-half penalty from James Tavernier.

While most fans were quick to heap praise on the Nigerian striker for his goalscoring heroics, Heart and Hand host Clifford was left blown away by Jefte’s performance and work in the build-up to the third goal.

Writing on X on Saturday (21 September) he said: “Cracking third for Rangers! Jefte, who has been superb, slips in Bajrami.

“Brilliant first-time ball in and Dessers with the impressive finish.”

How much did Rangers pay for Jefte transfer?

The signing of Jefte this summer almost went under the radar because of the other business that Clement’s side did, but it has proven to be one of the best pieces of business the Gers have completed.

Barring one of the most unjust red cards ever seen during the Champions League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv, he has been excellent at left-back for the Light Blues and added a new dimension in attack and defence.

His display at Ibrox on Saturday showed just how influential he can be in possession. His presence on the left wing has given the Gers a bit more balance and ensured that they aren’t as reliant on James Tavernier.

Clement will have a big decision to make when Ridvan Yilmaz finally returns from injury, however.

The Gers boss will need to try and find a way to accommodate both players in one side as Jefte has made himself almost undroppable.

Hopefully, the Brazilian will continue to improve between now and the end of the season. The initial signs suggest Rangers have a real talent on their hands and it is now down to them to ensure that they get the best out of him.
