'That's Harsh' - Jim White calls out Jordan over comments made on Everton player today

Jim White clashed with Simon Jordan after he slammed Michael Keane for his Everton performances live on talkSPORT.

The Toffees suffered another disappointment on Tuesday (18 September), crashing out of the EFL Cup to Southampton 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Sean Dyche was quick to defend the under-firel Keane who he thought “played very well” against the Saints.

This opinion wasn’t shared by Jordan, who berated the 31-year-old live on talkSPORT (18 September, 12:10pm).

He said: “I personally think Michael Keane is useless. I think every time they play him in their side they suffer as a result of it.”

White wasn’t pleased with the comments, replying: “That’s harsh Simon, you keep singling him out.”

Not that this bothered the former Crystal Palace chairman, who continued: “That’s because I’ve seen his performances and I think they’re abhorrent.

“I think they’re as bad as a central defender’s that I’ve ever seen in the Premier League.”

The former Burnley defender has not had a great start to the season and has had a poor spell since joining the Toffees in truth.

This saw him outjumped by Ollie Watkins, which helped to kickstart Aston Villa’s comeback from 2-0 down on Saturday (14 September).

With that being said, Keane was better against Southampton and put in multiple key interventions to keep the away side from scoring.

This saw the former England international register five clearances, two recoveries and one ground duel won [FotMob].

The loss in the EFL Cup was not down to his performance so Jordan’s comments have come at a strange time considering his showings earlier in the campaign.

Dyche is a manager who is struggling right now and appears to be getting slammed for whatever decision he makes with the defender being the latest in a long line.

This has seen supporters be critical of Ashley Young, which has certainly taken some of the spotlight off Keane in recent days.
