Exclusive: Newcastle now expected to bid for £50,000-a-week Chelsea player, he is willing to join
❗️
- EXCLUSIVE with Graeme Bailey
As Newcastle push to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, another Englishman is now a primary target for Eddie Howe.
The Magpies have a number of top homegrown talents already at St James’ Park, such as Nick Pope, Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley, Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes.
Now, TBR Football understand Newcastle have decided to bring another English star to Tyneside…
Newcastle ready to push for Chelsea No.11 Noni Madueke
Sources have now informed TBR Football that Newcastle are ready to accelerate attempts to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea – after the Blues signed Pedro Neto from Wolves.
The Barnet-born winger has been left unsettled by the Portugal international’s arrival at Stamford Bridge, as it adds further competition for starts out on that right flank.
Madueke only made 13 Premier League starts last season, with that figure expected to be lower in the 2024/25 campaign now Neto is in west London.
TBR Football have been told that Chelsea are happy to sell the £50,000-a-week winger for £30m, which is the same fee the Blues spent to sign the 22-year-old from PSV Eindhoven back in January 2023.
Sources believe the Londoner is willing to join Newcastle after Chelsea signed Neto, and an approach is expected to be made by the Magpies shortly.
It comes after talkSPORT claimed that Newcastle were already on red alert regarding Madueke after hearing about Neto’s £54m move to Stamford Bridge, with those at St James’ Park now in agreement that a bid should be made.
Magpies have watched the 22-year-old for some time
The England U21 international has long been on Newcastle’s shortlist, and a deal could now finally happen.
It was Dean Jones who claimed back in July 2022 that Newcastle were keen to sign Madueke while he was shining in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven.
Obviously, Chelsea ended up securing Madueke’s signature just months later, but a truly bizarre approach to recruitment at Stamford Bridge could now push the winger into Newcastle’s arms.
