Ibrox-linked player to make transfer decision now as Rangers make improved offer - report

Rangers have made an improved contract offer to Connor Barron to try and bring him to Ibrox this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (16 June) that the Light Blues have upped the ante to try and secure the Scotsman’s signature this summer as he considers offers from a host of Championship teams.

Barron will make a decision over his future now that he has returned from his summer holiday, with offers on the table from Hellas Verona, Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City along with a whole host of other English clubs.

Should the 21-year-old decide to move to Glasgow this summer, the Gers will either need to agree a fee with the Dons or potentially go tribunal to decide on what sort of fee Aberdeen deserve.

Midfield was always going to be an area Rangers looked to recruit in this summer and while Barron may not be the name at the top of every fans list, this feels like a deal that makes far too much sense to pass up on.

Not only is the 21-year-old an excellent player, but he will help Philippe Clement’s side fulfil the homegrown quota, which could be incredibly important as the majority of the Light Blues recruitment is being done away from Scotland.

Whether or not Barron will be willing to move to a club where he may not play every week remains to be seen, but the opportunity to play European football at Ibrox may well be too hard for the midfielder to turn down.

Whatever happens in the coming days, the Gers at least know that they will get an answer sooner rather than later. Hopefully, Barron will make his choice clear quickly so Rangers can move on to other targets if necessary.
