Report: Tottenham now intensifying efforts to sign 'incredible' £60m Arsenal target, further talks held today

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks.

The Lilywhites and the Gunners are both off the mark in the window, with one senior signing apiece.

With Tottenham and Arsenal both hoping for a better season next time round, there’s a good chance both will intensify their efforts in the market.

Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League table after being in the top-four picture for most of the season, while the Gunners fell just short of winning the title.

Both Tottenham and Arsenal could look to bolster their attacking ranks in the next month, and plenty of top players have been linked with a move to north London.

Now, according to FootballTransfers, Spurs have stolen a march on Arsenal with regards to an “incredible” Premier League forward wanted by both teams.

Tottenham hold talks with Pedro Neto amid Arsenal and Liverpool links

The player in question is Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Pedro Neto, who has made a real name for himself in old gold these past few years.

According to FT, Tottenham held further discussions on personal terms today after previously engaging in talks with the Portugal international.

Arsenal are still very much interested in the left-footed ace, as they are keen to secure adequate cover for Bukayo Saka, said the report.

However, Neto features prominently in Ange Postecoglou’s plans to revamp his side, and Spurs are now intensifying their efforts for the player.

Prior reports have suggested that Wolves value the 24-year-old at around £60million, and he has also been linked with Liverpool.

Pace picking up in Neto transfer saga

Neto has been incredible for Wolves over the years, a world-class quality who boasts superb footwork, vision, speed and work-rate.

His contract runs until 2027, so it’s not like his club has to sell him now or risk losing him for little to nothing, but it looks like they are happy to cash in this summer.

With August now upon us and a number of transfer dominoes having fallen, there’s a good chance some of the long-standing transfer sagas will now take off.

Tottenham appear to have stolen a march on Arsenal for the “incredible” Neto, but the race is still open.

Both Spurs and Arsenal are currently on pre-season tours, of Japan & South Korea and the United States respectively.

The North London clubs can expect to bank several million pounds from the trips, which will kickstart revenues for the 2024-25 campaigns of around £500million each.
