Wenham questions Tottenham recruitment strategy as youth exits are confirmed

John Wenham admits he sympathises with two Under-18 stars recently released by Tottenham.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has questioned the quality of youth players being brought into the club.

It comes after a decision announced by Tottenham (5 June) to release Under-18 players Han Willhoft-King and Kieran Morgan as part of a club clearout.

According to Football London (10 June), there is dissatisfaction behind the scenes at the volume of quality being brought into the academy’s younger age groups in recent years.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – has echoed this dissatisfaction.

“It wasn’t a surprise to me, but I do feel a bit sorry for both of them,” Wenham said.

“If I’m being honest, I think they are both better than some of the players who have been brought in externally.

“I read about the dissatisfaction behind the scenes at the club, and I completely agree with that assessment.”

Tottenham supporters will be keen to see a youth player break into the first-team

Spurs supporters will be desperate to see the next big thing come out of their academy.

In truth, not a single player has been able to effectively bridge the gap between Spurs’ academy and first-team since Harry Kane burst onto the scene.

Other players have come and gone, but none have been a real success.

That is something Ange Postecoglou will be keen to address over the coming years in North London.
